This is an archive post. In the dim and distant history, before the dominance of social media, most disability content existed in blogs and we built this page to showcase them. At it’s height it was the ‘top 100’ disability blogs, and we’d get several messages a week from people asking us to add their blogs and their content. It still brings quite a lot of traffic to the site but over the last few years we’d had to keep shrinking the list as more and more blogs close down and shift to social media (which is a great platform). We’re closing it now because we’re going to shift this site to a different provider and we don’t really have the resources to keep it migrate it properly.
This is a list of the top 50 disability blogs by traffic ranking. It updates automatically every 24 hours so you see realtime changes. We maintain it because we are keen to share information and good practice from anywhere it may be.
To get on this list, there are two conditions:
- you must be regularly (but not exclusively; many of these bloggers explore a range of topics) posting about some aspect of disability.
- For fairness, the blog should be the reason that most people come to your site, not the only reason, but it should be the main one.
The second reason is pragmatic: Ouch, is probably the world’s most read disability blog, but the main reason that people go to bbc.co.uk is probably not for that blog. So we can’t really use the Alexa bbc.co.uk ranking as a good measurement.
This is the list of blogs used as the source list. It’s growing and shrinking as the process goes on and it’s now at about 386 different sites. If there is a website that should be on that list, please let us know.
